FREIHAUT presents a range of O-element alginate masks, created from brown algae from the Brittany region (France).

These algae have the highest concentration of alginic acid, which normalizes the mineral balance of the skin and a strong regenerating effect. In turn, Brittany is a region internationally recognized for the extraction and processing of the highest quality algae, meeting international standards for the creation of cosmetics.

Cosmetics based in algae or seaweed have experienced a significant increase over the last years; nevertheless, algae have been present since long time in the lives of human beings: food, fabrics, medicines and also cosmetics. This fact is an evidence of the power of their active substances.

Alginates are natural-origin substances, mainly composed by alginate acid salts, present in almost every algae.
Alginate salts are part of the conjunctive tissue of algae, and they provide cohesion and support to the structure: their function is similar to our collagen, as it provides firmness and elasticity.

In the beauty field, in order to be used as masks, alginate salts have to be combined with calcium salts, as they provide consistency and elasticity. The last ones are responsible for the plastic texture, which is the main characteristic of this comfortable and innovative cosmetic product.

Principales substances actives :

1. RICE:
Thanks to its composition and richness in vitamins and anti-oxidants, it is a wonderful anti-ageing complex that protects the skin against external aggressions.

Rice contains among its components gamma-oryzanol, a powerful anti-oxidant agent (10 times more anti-oxidant than vitamin E).

2. ALPINE HERBS COCKTAIL:
• Rich in salicylic acid and vitamin C.
• It regulates the melanocyte metabolism.
• Extraordinary soothing, hydrating and emollient properties.
• It has a decongestant effect in reddened skins and under-eye bags.
• Disinfectant and soothing, it restores the skin hydrolipidic layer.

3. CASSIS:
Cassis or blackcurrant is a fruit with significant anti-oxidant properties, and with lots of amino acids, so it is a great active substance that protects against ageing and enhances collagen and elastin.

It is also rich in linoleic acid (omega 6), which helps to restructure the hydrolipidic layer and to leave the skin with a fresh and luminous look. This way, the skin looks younger and bright.

4. VITAMIN C:
Vitamin C is a famous anti-oxidant that prevents the formation of free radicals and the damage in the cellular DNA.
Moreover, vitamin C is the precursor of vitamin E, highly regenerative.

5. DICTYOTERIS MEMBRANACEA:

6. HOMEOSTATINE MS GREEN:
It is an active substance with a plant origin, composed of two elements:
A marine pentasaccharide (MPS) obtained from seaweed (Enteromorpha compressa) and a fraction of a polysaccharide (3D Matrix of Andean galactomannan) extracted from the Andean oat tree (Caesalpinia spinosa); its molecule is an innovative 3D hydrocolloid matrix which fills and gives volume to tissues thanks to its great capacity of water retention.
Thanks to the innovative process, Homeostatine® prevents and reduces wrinkles as it recovers the homoeostasis in the extracellular skin matrix, and increases the dermal collagen production in the fibroblasts of this matrix.

7. DICTYOTERIS MEMBRANACEA (sea fern):
This active substance is used in facial anti-ageing treatments to prevent the loss of stored fat in the face oval, neck and décolletage, preventing the loss of volume and thus flaccidity.
The result: filling effect in the skin, oval reshaping.

8. BAMBOO CHARCOAL:
Thanks to its porous structure, the charcoal deeply cleanses the skin, purifying and absorbing the toxins that block pores. It acts as a sponge attracting and absorbing impurities.
Charcoal is also used to regulate the secretion of the sebaceous glands. It is therefore the perfect partner for oily and dirty skins.
It is a good tool to soothe the stressed skin and those skins damaged by pollution.
Moreover, charcoal has antioxidant properties, helping to combat free radicals which are responsible for skin ageing.

9. CARROT EXTRACT:
The main properties of this extract are based on high concentration of beta-carotenes and antioxidants, which helps us fight the sign of aging and protect our skin against external aggressions such as UV rays.
Thanks to its abundant concentration of vitamin A, minerals and other antioxidants, it has a powerful antioxidant, immunostimulating and anti-aging effect. It keeps the skin flexible and hydrates and reduces the sebum of oily skin, being an essential asset in the sunny season for all skin types.

10. POLYSACCHARIDES (Glucose):
Polysaccharides are amino acids and proteins of plant origin.
• They restore the skin barrier, generating a protective “film” on the skin, providing balanced and delayed hydration (chrono-release).
• They have a protective action against allergic reactions and provide softness and well-being to the skin.
